Resilience is the word I have for us all this month.
Think of the beginning of the pandemic, we were all taken aback. What we thought was going to be a few months has lasted for almost 2 years. Thus, we used the term unprecedented all the time - trying to calm ourselves with what's happening and indeed we rise. We have been tested over and over again in a short period, and we've proven ourselves to be strong, highly capable and most importantly, resilient.
The Challenges We Faced Together
Loss and Restrictions
We've felt a loss as we went into lockdown. Curfews imposed in different stages across the globe, the freedom that sometimes we take advantage of have suddenly been grappled by restrictions, and the worse part was waking up every day not being able to go anywhere or do anything aside from rolling from bed to our work desks.
Emotional Exhaustion
We have felt emotionally exhausted dealing with the uncertainties. Not knowing what's next - will I be able to keep my job? Will my child start school? Will the exams push through? Am I working from home? Is my family safe? Are my friends ok?
Isolation and Distance
We have felt isolated and distanced from others, from the world and from the norm that we knew. By now most people have made peace that we will have a new normal, that life can't go back to what it used to be. It's been hard for families, friends to be separated and live in isolation.
Relationship Turmoil
Relationships have gone through turmoil as we had to redefine intimacy and boundaries. We learnt how to spend too much time together as well as too much time apart. We found ourselves unsure of how to navigate in these squalls.
And still, we rise.
And still, we rise.
And still, we rise.
And still, we rise.
Can You Stand in the Storm?
Can you stand in the storm? Knowing so well you will be hit hard, blown strongly, bruised and hurt, and still stand?
Can you still trust even if you've been betrayed many times?
Can you love even when you have been hurt?
Can you forgive even when you have been forsaken?
Can you look beyond the issues even amid trouble?
Yes, we will rise.
You Will Rise!
You will get past the pain, the hurt, the bruising, the damage, the brokenness. And yes, we cannot revive the ones that have left us. We cannot recover the lost time. We cannot unwind the hand of time.
However, we have learnt to be present, hug the ones we love as often as possible, kiss the ones we love, forgive quickly, tell the ones we love always. Be in the moment and enjoy and make the most of it right now because tomorrow is not guaranteed.
We will rise.
We Are In This Together
We'll overcome, we'll get through it. Are you wanting to be present to make the most of right now and show up for yourself? Reach out for a chat and let's see how I can help you and support you at this moment.
Because after it all, we will rise.
